Walking with company.

I have no issues walking alone, solitude is a good thing. Some people need company all of the time, others, like me can get by with a mix of the two. I've walked alone on the PCT, and on some days I crave company like everyone else. It gives me a good mix.

This shot is taken walking with Ben, and in the background, a woman called Sugar Mama. Ben is pretty laid back and we get alone well. It's always re-assuring to see him or someone familier in camp at the end of the day to share the evening with.

Taken on the hottest day so far, it was in the mid 80's. Hat and bandana covering the neck standard issue for the desert sections. The bandana is not my choice of colour! It is a gift from the organisers of the PCT and every thru-hiker recieved one, they differ in colour each year.

  1. Looks incredible - you're doing great! What sort of mileage have you been doing each day? (i'm assuming its mountain walking most of the time)

  2. Hey Aud,
Trying to keep it at around 15 per day for first 2 or 3 weeks, then will push up to around 20 and then up to around 20 - 25 as an average.
California is about 30% mountainous, the rest flatish desert.
    Enjoy!
